Radio Naturopath Episode 215: Interview with Enrico Liva, N.D.: Efforts to Obtain Prescriptive Authority in Connecticut

I had Enrico Liva, N.D. on as a guest, and we talked about why it's important for naturopathic physicians to have prescriptive authority in the state of Connecticut. Most of the licensed states in the USA have prescriptive authority, including very recently licensed states like Idaho and New Mexico. Connecticut's law was designed in 1923 without prescriptive authority, and and we have not been able to get the state to budge in all the time despite states around us having that right. We are extensively trained in pharmaceuticals and we have an extremely low rate of malpractice in states where naturopaths have prescriptive authority. Rick talked about the legislative efforts, in Connecticut to get this passed. It was dismissed by the Commissioner of Health of Connecticut, Renee Coleman-Mitchell. We talked about how our patients want us to have prescriptive authority and getting petitions going. If you want to help, write a letter stating you want your naturopathic physician to use their training and have prescriptive authority; that's it's convenient for you to go to one place, that you trust your naturopathic physician to give you good care, and that it's wrong that we don't have prescriptive authority, unlike most of the other licensed states in the US. Write to:

Renee Coleman-Mitchell

410 Capitol Ave.

Hartford, CT 06134

Let's make it so naturopathic physicians can use ALL of your training, and truly provide you with the best of science and nature!

It can be really helpful! eaglemoon talked about it today, and then did two live tapping sessions where we invited the audience to tap along with us while we tapped about letting go as kids move on to the next phase in their lives, and also accepting transformation in our own lives. Radio Naturopath Episode 209: Natural Hormone Delivery Methods; Water: Why Hydrotherapy is Good For You

As promised, I talked about delivery systems for natural hormone replacement therapy. Some things are best as topical creams, some are OK as pills, some are good as sublingual oils, some should go right on the spot they're needed!

Also, while in Washington and Oregon, I went to two kinds of natural hydrotherapy! I went to Carson Hot Springs, where I got a bath in some lovely, hot mineral water, followed by a nice wrap. Then, I went to Multnomah Falls and and got splashed with a big cascade waterfall! That way, I got my negative ions, great for reducing inflammation. I talked about the different kinds of hydrotherapy, from constitutional to sitz baths, alternating hot and cold to foot baths, and much more! Easy stuff you can do with water right at home!

Radio Naturopath Episode 208: Help Allergies with Herbs; Guide to Bioidentical Hormones for Menopause

It’s time for SPRING! This week I reminded people that if they are sneezing, there IS tree pollen in the air, and they might want to break out the neti pots and xylitol nasal spray. And drink nettle and eyebright tea, and eat local honey!

The main topic was bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for menopausal symptoms. If you've tried the natural stuff and it just wasn't working, it might be time to try bioidentical hormones. I talk about the difference between horse-extracted, synthetic, and bioidentical hormones, and why it's better to go bioidentical. I also talk about which hormones to take and where, whether it's testosterone for sex drive, topical estrogen cream, or oral for everywhere. In 2 weeks I'll review delivery systems.
