Radio Naturopath Episode 534: Hydration In the Heat, Tech for Preventing Kidney Stones
This week, I talked about hydration especially in the heat. It's really important! There's different mineral levels based on your sweat and activity level, and even glycerol for hyperhydration!
We also talked about using technology to encourage folks to drink adequate fluids to prevent kidney stones, and it was found to be difficult! But it wasn't because hydration doesn't work, it's just that even when you encourage people to drink, they don't always get it done! So, if you tend to get kidney stones, it's STILL a good idea to hydrate.
Radio Naturopath Episode 498: Taro, Natural Insect Repellent, Electrolytes
This week, I talked about yummy taro root, which can be used like a potato in soups and salads, or as a powder for part of your favorite latte. It has resistant starch and fiber which are great for gut health! I also talked about electrolyte drinks and their pros and cons. Mostly, I think drinking some is a good idea! I also talked about the bumper crop of ticks and how to make some natural insect repellent.
Radio Naturopath Episode 209: Natural Hormone Delivery Methods; Water: Why Hydrotherapy is Good For You
As promised, I talked about delivery systems for natural hormone replacement therapy. Some things are best as topical creams, some are OK as pills, some are good as sublingual oils, some should go right on the spot they're needed!
Also, while in Washington and Oregon, I went to two kinds of natural hydrotherapy! I went to Carson Hot Springs, where I got a bath in some lovely, hot mineral water, followed by a nice wrap. Then, I went to Multnomah Falls and and got splashed with a big cascade waterfall! That way, I got my negative ions, great for reducing inflammation. I talked about the different kinds of hydrotherapy, from constitutional to sitz baths, alternating hot and cold to foot baths, and much more! Easy stuff you can do with water right at home!
